Akshitarpana (also called Netra Tarpana) is a classical eye-care therapy in which lukewarm medicated ghee is retained over the eyes within a sealed dough frame for a set duration. It is traditionally used to soothe and nourish the eyes.
The therapy is gentle and unhurried: the frame is built around the eyes, the medicated ghee is poured and retained while you slowly open and close the eyes as guided, and the session closes with rest and simple care instructions.
What a session involves
A soft dough reservoir prepared around the eyes
Lukewarm, physician-selected medicated ghee retained for a set time
Gentle eye movements as guided by the therapist
Rest and simple after-care advice following the session
Whether Akshitarpana suits your eye concern, and for how many sittings, is decided at consultation.
