Classical Medicated Purgation for Aggravated Pitta
Virechana
Virechana is classical medicated purgation — one of the five Panchakarma procedures — traditionally used to clear aggravated Pitta through the intestinal route. It is classically considered in certain skin, digestive and Pitta-dominant conditions.
Like Vaman, Virechana follows a preparatory phase of internal oleation and fomentation. The purgative formulation and dose are selected by the physician for your constitution, the procedure day is monitored closely, and a graded diet follows to restore digestive strength.
How Virechana is carried out
Preparatory oleation and fomentation as planned by the physician
Administration of an individually selected purgative preparation
Monitoring through the day of the procedure
A graded recovery diet and follow-up review
Suitability, preparation time and aftercare differ from patient to patient; everything is explained at consultation before the course is scheduled.
