Panchakarma, Consultations and Ayurvedic Care — Your Questions Answered

Common Questions

About Panchakarma & Consultations

Panchakarma is the classical set of Ayurvedic cleansing procedures — traditionally Vaman, Virechana, Basti, Nasya and Raktmokshana — supported by preparatory and follow-up care. It aims to remove accumulated imbalances and prepare the body to respond better to further Ayurvedic treatment.
We offer the five classical Panchakarma procedures along with Detoxification, Shirodhara, Akshitarpana, Agni Karma, Udhvartana, Patra Pottali Swedana (Kerala Therapy) and Churna Pinda Swedana — twelve classical therapies in total.
Our physician discusses your health concern in detail, reviews your history and daily routine, and performs an Ayurvedic assessment. Based on this, a treatment plan is prepared and each recommended therapy is explained before anything begins.
All consultations are carried out by Dr. Harsh Kamboj, BAMS — a registered Ayurvedic practitioner and former Ayurvedic Medical Officer with two years of government clinical service.
Therapies are never chosen off a menu. Selection depends on your condition, constitution, strength and the stage of the problem, as judged at consultation. The plan is adjusted at follow-up visits based on how you respond.
Yes — musculoskeletal care is a special area of interest at our hospital. Our physician has clinical and research experience in musculoskeletal disorders, and conditions such as back pain, neck pain, knee pain and joint stiffness are managed with assessment-based Ayurvedic care.
A steady stream of warm medicated oil is poured gently over the forehead for a set duration. It is traditionally used to calm the nervous system and support relaxation and sleep.
Basti is classical medicated enema therapy, considered in Ayurveda a principal therapy for Vata-related disorders, including many joint and spine complaints. The medicines, course and schedule are decided by the physician.
Nasya is the administration of medicated oil through the nasal passages after gentle preparation of the face and head. It is traditionally used for concerns of the head, neck and sinuses, including rhinitis.
Vaman is supervised therapeutic emesis, classically used for aggravated Kapha; Virechana is medicated purgation, classically used for aggravated Pitta. Both are planned procedures with proper preparation and aftercare.
Agni Karma is a classical para-surgical technique in which controlled therapeutic heat is applied at precise points. It is traditionally used for localised musculoskeletal pain, and is performed only after assessment.
Udhvartana is a herbal-powder massage with upward strokes; Patra Pottali Swedana (Kerala Therapy) and Churna Pinda Swedana are warm bolus fomentations using medicated leaves or herbal powders, used to ease stiffness and support mobility.

What to Expect at Vasudev Ayurveda

Your therapist will explain the procedure, position you comfortably and check on you throughout. Therapies are carried out calmly and hygienically, following the plan set by the physician.
Duration varies by therapy and by the plan made for you — some sessions are brief while others, and full Panchakarma courses, run longer across multiple days. You will be told the expected duration at consultation.
There is no fixed number. The course depends on your condition and response, and is reviewed by the physician at follow-up. We do not promise results in a set number of sittings.
Our trained Panchakarma therapists — Gagandeep, Sangeeta and Priyanka — perform the therapies under the supervision of our physician. Female patients can be attended by our female therapists.
Panchakarma procedures are performed only after assessment, with proper preparation, correct technique and monitoring. If a therapy is not suitable for you, our physician will say so and suggest an alternative approach.
Do not stop any prescribed medicine on your own. Bring your current prescriptions to the consultation — our physician will take them into account while planning your Ayurvedic care.
